To meet the criteria for Professional Membership, you should be either a Certified Positive Psychology Practitioner (B1) or Certified Strengths-Based Practitioner using Positive Psychology-informed approaches (B2) or the equivalent (B3). You must upload your certificates below.

Section 3 – Client Engagement

Section 4 – Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

To meet the criteria for Professional Membership, all members should be committed to engaging in at least 20 hours of CPD each year. These hours can be made up through attendance or completion of one or more professional development events and courses on topics that are relevant to Positive Psychology and the knowledge base and skills appropriate to your professional practice.

Members should be committed to engaging in at least 40 hours of reflective practice each year. Reflective practice includes peer exchange and supervision as well as personal practices (e.g. journaling). Peer exchange and supervision can take place one-to-one with another Certified Practitioner deemed credible by the member or in a group setting (e.g. Community of Practice).

Section 5 – Professional Insurance

You must be insured to practice work professionally with clients. Professional Membership includes free insurance and liability coverage for members who reside and practice in the UK. If you reside outside of the UK you should arrange for insurance as appropriate to your country of residence. If you are employed and apply your Positive Psychology within your employment role, then your insurance to practice professionally should be covered by your employer.

Additional Notes

PPG’s group insurance policy covers “activities of Positive Psychology” (e.g. psychoeducation, PPIs) and, if you meet the certification criteria, “life coaching” on Positive Psychology subjects (e.g. psychological wellbeing, character strengths and virtues).

If you work with a vulnerable clientele (e.g. children) where safeguarding is necessary, you must have completed a DBS or criminal records check and be deemed safe to do so by your country of residence. Not having this check in place is grounds for removal of professional membership and coverage by PPG’s insurance policy if applicable.

Section 6 – Register of Practitioners

Professional Members are automatically added to PPG’s Register of Practitioners. Registration to practice confirms that the member is suitably certified and insured to practice Positive Psychology or Positive Psychology-informed Strengths-Based Approaches.

Section 9 – Payment Information

PPG Payment Policy*

PPG membership fees are due annually and are valid for one year unless otherwise stated. Please note there are no refunds. To keep your membership active (including PPG insurance and liability coverage if this applies) annual payments must be kept up to date. While PPG will send a payment reminder, is the responsibility of the member to ensure that their fees are paid on time.
