Bio
Claire Higgins runs Operations and Education for the Positive Psychology Guild, a UK-registered government learning provider and not-for-profit organisation (2018-). She previously worked in the humanitarian sector (2002-2018) with the United Nations, International Committee of the Red Cross, MSF and other international organisations. Her roles covered media, communications, operations support, protection, project coordination, coaching and consulting across the Middle East. Outside of work, Claire taught Yoga and trained in Karate (JKA, Nidan). Claire is a PPG Certified Positive Psychology Practitioner (2018, Coaching, Training, Organisations, Research). She holds Masters of Science degrees in Exercise & Sport Psychology (MMU, 20219) and Violence, Conflict & Development (2004, SOAS), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arabic & Persian (2002, SOAS). She is currently pursuing a PhD at Moray House School of Education & Sport, University of Edinburgh (2024-2030) on the Cultural, Educational & Psychological Dimensions of “Kime” in Karate. In addition to being a Professional Member of the Positive Psychology Guild, Claire is also a Graduate Member of the Chartered Association for Sport & Exercise Sciences. She continues to practice Karate and Yoga and has a strong interest in healing and flourishing through movement.
