Positive Education Webinar Series

Imagine a world where all children grow up understanding how to navigate life whilst making their wellbeing a priority. Imagine a world where children can develop their resilience to manage the ups and downs that are inevitable in life whilst taking care of themselves and others through good times and bad.
Imagine children who are at risk for depression being able to learn the skills to argue against unrealistic pessimistic thoughts in the same way that Cognitive Therapy teaches adults already in therapy to become more optimistic. Imagine a world where children understand they have individual strengths they can flex and use effectively when different situations require them.
Imagine a world where those children grow up happier, with lives where they flourish, achieve better academic outcomes, where joy is present, and they know how to thrive in the world.
And imagine the rippling effect of generations of children learning these skills and going on to make their own positive impacts on the world as adults with better mental health and life satisfaction.
Now imagine that globally, children at school are taught through new education systems of wellbeing models, which combine traditional education principles with positive psychology to promote positive mental health, enhanced wellbeing, and happiness – this is a world that Positive Education aspires to. As Positive Psychology Practitioners, we can all play a part in creating such a world.
Since the early days when Martin Seligman’s Penn Resilience Program was aimed at middle-school children from 1990 to 2007, there have been a growing number of initiatives across the globe working to embed positive education into education models, collecting valuable research in the process to contribute to the direction of this field. Indeed, we know some of you are already working as positive education practitioners having an impact and sharing knowledge. For others, this is a new area of positive psychology ready for you to learn about and contribute to.
Whether Positive Education is something you’re already aware of or haven’t yet come across in your positive psychology journey, please join us to explore the topic further and find out how you can utilise it in your own existing or future practice.
The Positive Psychology Centre is running a three-part series of Positive Education Webinars.
These conversations are aimed at qualified teachers, Positive Psychology Practitioners, and students interested in Positive Education. Whether you are new to Positive Psychology or a well-seasoned practitioner or researcher, you will gain valuable insights for your knowledge and practice. If attending live, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance to add to your CPD records.
The events, hosted by the Positive Psychology Centre, take place on Thursday 12th May 2022, Thursday 9th June 2022 and Thursday 14th July 2022 between 7pm-9pm (UK time).
Join us for a panel presentation and audience discussion where qualified teachers and positive psychology practitioners Reece Coker, Diane Dreher, and George Kokolas will explore the subject of Positive Education and share perspectives on answers to the following questions as well as answering questions you may have:
